I’ve been a big fan of Pachamama CBD for some time now - their Kava Kava Valerian Tincture is a must for my bedtime routine - so I was completely jazzed to try other items in their product line. Let me introduce you to the unsung hero of the muscle-recovery world...the athletic rub.
Was that a bit dramatic? Maybe! But what’s a review without a little drama?
My previous go-to muscle rubs featured menthol, which I can almost smell now as I type, or other CBD rubs that left me wanting more in terms of texture, application and relief. I was definitely ready to try something new, and this product provided a welcome departure.

So let's talk about the experience. Opening the container literally made me swoon. Seriously. I was not expecting that.
Between the lavender and peppermint oils, two of my top favorite scents, I could tell immediately that this was not going to be like the athletic rubs of yore. This was confirmed once I scooped out a bit and began applying it to the back of my hand.
I couldn’t get over how easily the rub was distributed on my skin, and how moisturizing it felt. The shea and cacao blend was like butter, no, BETTER than butter, because butter isn’t that spreadable at room temp. Loving this!
Already pleased with the scent and the texture, my next step was to put that rub to work.
I applied it on multiple occasions last week, from my aching abs on the day after a super intense workout (ok, to be honest, I was sore because I had been avoiding core work for the past couple of weeks), and several times on my back. I tend to store tension in my lower back, and lots of time at the computer these days has definitely aggravated it.
Overall, I was pleased with the results of the athletic rub. I especially noticed the benefits on my back, because after I applied it to the source of my greatest discomfort, my lower back, and felt the relief in that area, I began to notice soreness in other parts of my back that I hadn’t noticed yet, since the lower back had been drawing all of my attention. Once that area got relief, I noticed a new area of tension higher up, on the other side.
Before you know it, my entire back received a bit of treatment and I was feeling fantastic, not to mention, a little blissed out from the absorption of the soothing CBD into my system.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that my muscle aches, although sore and tension filled, were not outright painful. I can’t speak to its efficacy on more extreme ailments, but it worked very well for what I was experiencing.
Folks, I have a new favorite athletic rub. The scent, texture, relief properties and overall experience make this product stand out among the rest.
